The flag of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, an unrecognised self-proclaimed government in a region of Azerbaijan, is derived from the flag of Armenia, with only a white pattern added. The flag was adopted on June 2, 1992.[1] This symbolises the Armenian heritage and population of the area and represents Nagorno-Karabakh as being a separated region of Armenia by the triangular shape. The pattern is also similar to the designs used on Armenian rugs.
