The Filmfare Best Female Debut Award is given by the Filmfare magazine as part of its annual Filmfare Awards for Hindi films. Technically this category comes under the Filmfare Sensational Debut Award as it represents the male and female category. The award for best female debut first started in 1988 and was titled Filmfare Lux New Face Award (except for one additional award named Best Female Debut given to Tabu in 1995). The Filmfare Lux New Face Award was last given in 1999 to Preity Zinta, and in 2001 it was re-named to Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. The award was first given to Kareena Kapoor and that is how it has been titled since then.
