The term Federal City (German Bundesstadt) is the title for the cities of Bonn, Germany, and Bern, Switzerland.

Since April 28, 1994, it establishes Bonn as the second official residence of the Federal President, Federal Chancellor, Bundesrat (upper house) and the first official residence of six federal ministries and about 20 federal authorities.

It is the official title of Bern as the de facto capital of Switzerland. Historically, Washington, D.C., has also been called the “Federal City”. Russia also has two Federal Cities, Moscow and St. Petersburg.
