[edit] Embed
Embed International is a supplier manufacturer of debit card systems and management
applications for the amusement, leisure and retail industries.
ECS (Embed’s card system) is now used throughout the world with over 200 operating
locations in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Middle
East and India. Embed was born of and maintains close ties to the Leisure and Allied Industries
Group (LAI). LAI is a regional leader that builds amusement machines and operates centers
throughout Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
[edit] ECS
ECS (Embed Card System) is a total operating solution for an entertainment facility. ECS provides admissions control, cashless operation of vending, redemption and video games, as well as retail, food and beverage sales. It also provides a comprehensive marketing, monitoring and reporting system. All data and transaction information is kept on a data server and not on the customers’ card, eliminating card tampering fraud.
ECS is a server-based system. A server communicates with client card swipers. Customers load credit onto their magnetic stripe cards. When a customer swipes their card, their credit balance is checked and a game or admission to an attraction is issued. The system includes full Point of sale and data management facilities.
[edit] Color-Glo
Embed's flagship hardware product is the Color-Glo swiper (patent pend). The unit has a translucent shell and multi colour LEDs that can be programmed to cycle and change colours depending on how they are being used. The swiper would normally be attached to a video game or turnstile. The customer swipes the card to gain entry to an attraction or play the game. Debit card systems allow operators to offer differential pricing for regular customers. Other benefits include automatically controlled timed play for groups of customers and automatic game auditing.
[edit] Operations
Embed operates out of Dallas in the USA and Perth in Australia. Embed currently employs about 25 people spread over both offices. Their tasks include designing the ECS hardware, writing the ECS software application, installation at customer sites and providing customer support.
