Don't Mess With Bill is a song written by Smokey Robinson. It was a huge hit for The Marvelettes in 1966, after it was released November 1965 on Tamla Records as single 54126. The song, with Wanda Young as lead singer, made it to #7 on the Pop charts and #3 on the R&B charts. The B-side of the single was Anything You Wanna Do. The song would be the group's last Top 10 hit when it peaked in February 1966. The "Bill" mentioned in the title of the song doesn't refers to Willam "Smokey" Robinson. Robinson chose the name Bill because it sang well. "Don't Mess With Bill" has also been recorded and released by Monalisa Young.
