[edit] Trivia
This is the second filmed version of Woody Allen's play, the first was in 1969, and starred Jackie Gleason in the lead role. Woody Allen hated the adaptation so much, that he felt the need to do it himself. It marks the second time Allen did work for TV, after Men of Crisis: The Harvey Wallinger Story, in 1971.
