David Denby (film critic)

David Denby is an American film critic who writes for The New Yorker. At present (2007), he shares this role with Anthony Lane. Denby previously reviewed films for New York magazine. He published a book titled Great Books, about the Western canon-oriented Core Curriculum taught at his alma mater, Columbia University. He also wrote American Sucker, which details his investing misadventures in the stock market during the hi-tech boom while also in the midst of a divorce from Cathleen Schine and a major reassessment of his life.
