His mother, Zoe Sallis, was an actress of Anglo/Iranian descent;[1] his parents never married.[2]

In 1988, his father John Huston produced Danny's first feature, an adaptation of Thornton Wilder's last novel Theophilus North. In 1995's Leaving Las Vegas, he moved in front of the camera and has since acted in over 20 films, including the lead in John Sayles's Silver City, with Chris Cooper, Richard Dreyfuss, Maria Bello, Tim Roth and Daryl Hannah.
