[edit] History

On August 27, 1995, the station signed on under the Citynet Television brand.

The station was later reformatted to a video music channel and was renamed EMC 27.

In 1999, GMA and STAR Network entered a joint venture to launch a local Filipino version of Channel [V], which began on December 15, 1999.

Channel [V] Philippines signed off in July 2001, following PLDT's acquisition of a controlling stake of GMA. This was because PLDT-owned Nation Broadcasting Corporation already ran MTV Philippines, which was broadcast locally on DZRU-TV channel 41, and on cable and satellite systems in the rest of the country. Citynet Television returned after the closure.

In November 2005, GMA and ZOE Broadcasting Network entered an agreement to rebroadcast DZOE-TV channel 11, the flagship of GMA's new UHF network QTV (now simply known as Q), in exchange of upgrading ZOE's facilities and airing ZOE produced programming on GMA.
