Cork North West is a constituency represented in Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish parliament or Oireachtas. It has an electorate of 53,699 (73000 approx with the boundary change) and at present is served by 3 Teachtaí Dála (TDs). The method of election is the Single Transferable Vote.
It is a large rural 3 seat constituency. Due to its size and landscape it is considered one of the most difficult constituencies to canvass in Ireland. The constituency itself encompasses the western part of Ireland's largest county of Cork. It runs from Charleville in the north to Ballingeary and Crookstown, south of Macroom, in the south. The constituency also takes in parts of the Mallow and Fermoy electoral areas.
