Chris Parry

Chris Parry ( b. 23 May 1952 United Kingdom - d. 16 January, 2007 San Diego, California, USA ) was a talented theatrical lighting designer. He worked on several Broadway and West End productions and was nominated for three Tony Award for Best Lighting Design, winning for The Who's Tommy.

Parry’s credits include over 150 designs worldwide including productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal National Theatre in the UK, and designs for the Los Angeles Opera, Welsh National Opera, Opera Theatre of Lucca in Italy, as well as many regional theatres. In 1993, he received the Lighting Designer of the Year Award from Lighting Dimensions magazine.

He was a generous teacher of lighting design for many years at the University of California, San Diego and has one son, Richard Parry.

He is famed for designing and making jewellery to order, be it a wedding, engagement or eternity ring. He can make almost any item in the precious metals silver, gold and platinum and frequently uses diamonds, sapphires and emeralds amonst other stones.
