The Chattanooga Times Free Press is a daily broadsheet newspaper published in Chattanooga, Tennessee by Tom Griscom and is distributed in the metro Chattanooga region. It is one of Tennessee's major newspapers.
The paper was created in the late 1990s following the merger of the Chattanooga Times and the Chattanooga News-Free Press. The Times was once owned by Adolph Ochs, who also founded The New York Times. The merged newspaper is owned by WEHCO Media, Inc.
The Times Free Press is unusual among U.S. newspapers in that it runs two editorial pages, one leaning liberal, the other leaning conservative, reflecting the editorial leanings of the previous standalone Times and Free Press.
In January 2007, the Times Free Press retained the services of Coptix and launched a redesign of the newspaper website.[1] The newspaper and website were featured on CBS Sunday Morning as an example of how daily newspapers are responding to a change in readership from the print to the web.[2]
