University of Wales, Swansea Institute of Higher Education (Welsh: Prifysgol Cymru, Athrofa Abertawe) is an institution of higher education which resides on mainly two campuses in Swansea, south Wales. SIHE was formed in 1992, when it achieved its status as an independent Higher Education Corporation However, its roots date back over 150 years. Its predecessors are the colleges of Technology, Art and Teacher Training, which have been providing education in the area prior to 1900.
