Seven individuals served as Chairman of the United States Atomic Energy Commission from its formation in 1946 until its disbandment in 1974. The first Chairman was David Lilienthal. The longest serving chairman was Glenn T. Seaborg. The only woman to serve as Chairman was Dixy Lee Ray, who was also the last person to serve as Chairman.
