[edit] Overview

When brother-in-law Liam told Carla that she was taking up too much room in the factory, Carla was very offended and bought a new desk to further rile Liam.

Carla interrupted Michelle Connor's date with Sonny Dhillon after she walked in when they were going to kiss and started taking an interest in Sonny herself.

[edit] Underworld

Carla developed a strong and controlling presence at Underworld, much to the chagrin of her brother-in-law Liam. However, the smug smile was wiped off Carla's face when she found out that her husband had spent all the money she needed to start her children's clothing business.

Carla seems to think that she's very upper-class. She has extravagant tastes and is also very bossy, especially around the factory workers. As well as this, Carla can be quite fashion obsessed.

Carla started to manipulate Kelly Crabtree and Joanne Jackson so that she could raise money for her children's clothes scheme. She made them work weekends, early mornings and late nights and occasionally "treated" them to a night out, which ended with only her and Paul. However, Kelly and Joanne eventually refused to continue working for Carla as they became isolated from their friends.

She was angry when Paul didn't come to their anniversary dinner, humiliating him in public in revenge for his behaviour. He later apologised by treating her to an expensive meal at a romantic restaurant, where he ordered a waiter to play the violin.

After the Roy's Rolls inferno, Carla sacked new worker Becky Grainger after she was believed to have started the fire. But the move backfired when on the same day she received a call from her company saying they wanted to double their order.

[edit] The Truth about Dean's Death

Following Paul's violent reaction to his nephew Ryan's joy riding, Carla began to think that her husband was hiding something.

When she found out that Paul was responsible for Michelle's late partner's death, Carla was horrified but forgave him.

[edit] Kasia's Death

On 16 April 2007, just after an illegal night shift, Polish worker Kasia tripped and fell down the stairs of the factory, killing her instantly. The only people present were Carla and Wiki. Instead of phoning for an ambulance, Carla contacted husband Paul, who came over and sent Vicki home, assuring her that matters would be taken care of. Paul then devised a plan to avoid Carla's illegal night shifts from being discovered. They would wait until 8 a.m., then clock Kasia in for work, so that they could say she came in early to help Paul, and then fell to her death.

Liam Connor eventually arrived at the factory and discovered what had happened. He was disgusted, but convinced by Paul to go along with the lie. The ambulance arrived and the residents were informed of Kasia's death. Paul and Carla were given short interviews by the police, with each of them telling the fabricated version of the incident.

[edit] Leanne Battersby and Paul's Death

Carla became close friends with brother-in-law Liam's girlfriend Leanne Battersby and the pair went into business together. However, their friendship was destroyed after Carla discovered that Leanne was secretly a prostitute. Their business agreement was consequently in tatters.

Canny Carla then discovered that Paul was one of Leanne's clients. When this was confirmed, she could barely contain her rage and vowed to divorce Paul. He was furious and trashed their flat. Paul blamed Leanne for wrecking his marriage, and he took revenge by kidnapping her in the boot of his car.

However, Paul was distracted on the journey and the car was hit by a truck at a junction. As he and Leanne lay in hospital, Carla announced that Leanne was a prostitute and that Paul was a client. Paul subsequently died in hospital although Leanne survived.

Carla subsequently inherited Paul's 60% share of Underworld, causing friction with Liam.

[edit] Tony Gordon

Carla seemed to overcome Paul's death very quickly and started dating Tony Gordon. This move by Carla made Liam think about how he truly felt about her.

[edit] Feelings for Liam?

During the middle of an argument, Liam and Carla kissed, although she denied having feelings for him, they were both left confused. However, Carla is set to sleep with Liam in the new year, while on a business trip together.

[edit] Background

Carla has a very rough background. Her mother was a drug dealer, who sold drugs from a pram on an estate, and her brother, only known as Darren, is serving 8 years in Strangeways prison for armed robbery. [1]
