Bronxville is a village in Westchester County, New York, United States, located 15 miles north of midtown Manhattan. The population was 6,543 at the 2000 census. It is part of the town of Eastchester. It is one of the wealthiest communities in the United States.[1]

Bronxville is the home of Concordia College, a Christian liberal arts college operated by the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. Sarah Lawrence College, a small private liberal arts college, is located nearby in Yonkers.[2]

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 6,543 people, 2,312 households, and 1,660 families residing in the village. The population density was 6,869.3 people per square mile (2,659.2/km²). There were 2,387 housing units at an average density of 2,506.0/sq mi (970.1/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 91.88% White, 1.15% African American, 0.05% Native American, 4.83% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.73% from other races, and 1.30% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.93% of the population.

There were 2,312 households out of which 40.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.4% were married couples living together, 6.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.2% were non-families. 24.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.71 and the average family size was 3.27.

In the village the population was spread out with 29.1% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 25.6% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 86.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.1 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $144,940, and the median income for a family was $200,000. Males had a median income of $100,000 versus $61,184 for females. The per capita income for the village was $89,483. About 1.7% of families and 2.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 1.6% of those under age 18 and 2.9% of those age 65 or over.

Bronxville's ZIP code is 10708, and covers the Village of Bronxville proper as well as the Chester Heights section of Eastchester, parts of Tuckahoe, and the Lawrence Park West and Cedar Knolls sections of Yonkers. This brings the ZIP code's population to 22,411 (2000 Census), covering an area more than twice as large as the actual municipality of Bronxville itself.
