The Bridge School Benefit is an annual non-profit charity concert held in Mountain View, California every October at the Shoreline Amphitheatre. The concerts are all organized by musician Neil Young and his wife, Pegi.

Proceeds benefit the Bridge School, which assists mentally and physically handicapped children. One of the thrusts of the program is the use of advanced augmentitive and assistive communications technologies.

The first concert was in October 1986, and, with the exception of 1987, the concert has been held every year since. It is known for having a relatively high-profile lineup and strong performances, probably due to Neil Young's extensive connections within the music industry. As a practice, but not a rule, the performers use acoustic instruments. Young also personally performs every year.

The stage layout and atmosphere at the Bridge School Benefit contribute to making it a unique experience for performers and audience. The children, their parents, caregivers and Bridge School staff not only attend the show - but are honored by being given the best seats in the house. They sit on an elevated stage immediately behind the performers. Some of the children use wheelchairs and gear to assist and augment their communications. They all clearly enjoy the music. The children demonstrate a lot of excitement - and stamina - and their reactions to the assorted musical acts are a magical part of the show.

The combined influences of this performing environment and Neil Young's example of performing for good causes has brought a great assembly of talent over the years. Further, it has created a singular environment of selflessness - of ego-free performances - that is unfamiliar in popular music today.
