Bonnie Franklin (born January 6, 1944 in Santa Monica, California) is an American actress.

Franklin once said that people have a hard time believing that she's Jewish because of her red hair and freckles.

Franklin graduated from Beverly Hills High School in Beverly Hills, California in 1962.

Franklin is best known for her portrayal of the divorced mother, Ann Romano, on the long-running television situation comedy (or, since so many of its episodes dealt with serious topics, some have called it a "dramedy") One Day at a Time (1975 - 1984).

Bonnie Franklin has also been a guest star on a number of other television series and directed several episodes of the 1980s sitcom Charles in Charge.

Additionally, she has starred in both Off Broadway and Broadway stage plays, winning a Theatre World Award plus a Tony Award nomination in 1970 for "Best Featured Actress in a Musical" for her performance in Applause_(musical), opposite Lauren Bacall. Franklin is short and slight but has a powerful singing voice.

She was married to playwright Ronald Sossi from 1967 to 1970 and was married for the second time to film producer Marvin Minoff in 1980. She has no children.
