Bob Bishop (scout)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bob Bishop was chief scout for Manchester United in Northern Ireland in the 1960s.
Among the famous football (soccer) players he discovered was George Best, playing for Cregagh Youth Club against Bishop's Boyland club in 1961. Bishop subsequently sent United's manager Sir Matt Busby a famous telegram, "I think I've found you a genius". Bishop attended Best's testimonial match at Windsor Park, Belfast, in 1988 as a guest of honour. Bishop also discovered Norman Whiteside.[1]
