Benjamin James-Ellis was a contestant on the BBC reality talent show Any Dream Will Do.

The 18 year old is originally from Scarborough, North Yorkshire, and is a student at the Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts. He used to perform at the Scarborough YMCA Theatre. He is a fan of musicals.

He is currently dating 19 year old Maude Hirst, also an actress.

On June 28th 2007 Ellis landed a role in a west end production of "The Music Of Dirty Dancing" and has since landed the role of Link Larkin in the 2007 West End production of Hairspray. Previews for Hairspray began 11th October 2007, Press night is 30th October 2007.

Any Dream Will Do was a Television series which aired on BBC1, and offered the chance to be the next West End Joseph for the hit musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. On June 2, 2007, Ellis was voted out of the semi-finals of the programme, taking fourth place, after losing out to eventual third-placed Lewis Bradley
