Banoo Main Teri Dulhann is a Zee TV drama which focuses on the life of Vidya, a young, illiterate and pretty village girl who has married into a rich family. She then has to contend with her three sisters-in-law who are determined to make her life a misery. Like most Zee TV dramas, it uses many sudden and harsh video effects to emphasise the drama.[1]
Banoo Main Teri Dulhann is the story of Vidya, a naive, simple girl with idealistic notions. She has been brought up with love and comes from a poor background. The only shortcoming that Vidya has in life is that she is illiterate. She gets married to rich Sagar Pratap Singh, the son of Thakur and joins his household. The fairytale wedding, however, turns into a nightmare when the family takes objection to Vidya's illiteracy. Dulhann is Vidya’s fight to gain back her lost pride and dignity. It is her struggle to get back her lost honor.
Vidya’s married life is full of hardships and pain. She has to fight for survival in her own house. Her sisters-in-law make the place a living hell. Her husband Sagar loves her, but sometimes mistrusted her due to other peoples misguidance, since he has the mind of a nine year old due to an accident. The submissive Vidya is lost in the jungle of unwanted relationships and unreciprocated love.
Vidya’s endurance reaches a pinnacle when she comes across a secret that shatters whatever is left of her dream. She is a stranger in her own house and an enemy amongst her own people. On the day of her wedding she find out that her husband is mentally ill due to an accident which took place some months before. Will Vidya be able to win the love and acceptance of the Thakur family and become Sagar’s dulhann (bride)?

[edit] Vidya
Vidya, the protagonist of the series, has shown lulwut throughout the series to be loyal, illiterate and brave. Being very beautiful she has attracted many suitors, such as Harsh and Karthik, the husbands of two of Vidya's sisters-in-law. Vidya's aunt and cousin, Shalu, have also been allowed into the household. Vidya, with the help of her nephew and brother-in-law (Bharat and Chinu) takes Sagar to Singapore to get cured. However, Vidya's fate shows its dark side as she gets arrested for supposedly carrying illegal drugs in her bag (Sindoora's scheme). Meanwhile, Sagar is taken to India by Sindoora, and Sindoora makes up a story about Vidya not paying the hospital fees and running off with all the money. With the help of a friend (DJ) and Lord Shiva she returns to India. But unfortunately she is placed as the maidservant of Sagar, due to the family's decision to protect Sagar from finding out the truth. Sagar has forgotten about Vidya and Sameer (Vidya and Sagar's foster child) in the past two years and the family worries if this issue becomes a danger to his health. Sagar is told about his and Vidya's relationship and he is not happy. In fact, he is furious at the family for getting him married to Vidya in the first place, and for lying to him about it. It is now up to Vidya to win back her husband's heart. Vidya now knows how to speak English. Vidya has won Sagar's heart. Vidya told Sagar that she is pregnant but she really isn't. Will Vidya break Sagar's heart again?

Sagar is Vidya's husband. He suffered from an "accident" which makes him have a mind of an eight, or nine-year-old. He is often susceptible to his sister Sindoora, who misguides him time to time. In one episode, Sindoora locks Sagar in a darkened room during a music competition in order to crush Sagar's spirit. It is also quite sure that Sindoora is the cause of his accident. He is best friends with his nephew, Bharat (Sindoora's son) and is often seen playing with him throughout the serial. Sagar is referred to as "Mr. Ocean" by Bharat (Sagar means Ocean) and in turn Bharat is referred to as "Mr. India" (Bharat means India) by Sagar. The reason for this is Sagar is inspired by James Bond and often acts as if he were a spy. Vidya took Sagar to Singapore to get him cured. Over there he was kidnapped by Singaporian gangsters (hired by Sindoora). He was later found and was ready for the operation. Now Sagar has recovered and is completely normal. He has forgotten the last two years of his life after his accident. He does not remember Vidya or his foster child Sameer. His marriage to Vidya is veiled to him because the family is afraid that if they tell this truth, he might suffer some shock and may cause him to turn back into a child. So Sagar thinks that Vidya is just a pity maidservant, told by Sindoora. But later Sagar starts getting glimpses of his two-year past... with Vidya. Sagar finally finds out that Vidya is his wife and is very angry. Vidya decides to leave the house and goes back to her home town, Benaras, because Sagar is not happy with their relationship. Sagar, on the basis of the amount of love Vidya received in the house and how much the family care for her, goes to receive her and bring her back to the house. Sagar is willing to give his and Vidya's relationship a chance, but only because Vidya has done so much for the family. And she does but again Sindura comes in between them telling Sagar, Vidya is not happy with the relationship. Vidya tries her level best to win back her husbands confidence and at last she wins some of it. But Sindoora's evil brain still works out ideas to send vidya out of the house. Sagar is currently in the hospital. After he is released from the hospital he gets closer to Vidya. After, Sagar finds evidence of the murderer who was on the mission to kill him. He found the sim card, the cell phone , and one other thing. Sindoora frames Aniket. Aniket was thought to be paralyzed, but stood up and yelled when his son was about to eat a poisoned pastry. Sagar now thinks that Aniket was lying about being paralyzed and now is accusing him of attempted murder. Sindura calls the police to arrest him and then Vidya tries to convince Sagar to keep Aniket for Bharat's sake...but Sindura steps in and says he has to go for 'what' he did. Aniket is taken in handcuffs to prison and on his way, Sindoora sneakily mocks him causing him to overreact, trying to strangle her...leading all of the baffled people to believe that he 'could' be capable of such an act. Bharat is bitter with Sindoora for her stand against Aniket.Sindoora is shocked to at the Poha's behavior.
[edit] Sindoora
Sindoora is Sagar's older stepsister, and is considered to be the mastermind three sisters in laws She is usually the one who plans ways of making Vidya's life a misery. Sindoora is devoted to Sagar, but has to make him dead in order to crush Vidya's spirit. She is also hates Harsh as he is robbing his wife, Chandra, who is Sindoora's sister. . Sindoora's husband is Aniket, who is a lawyer and the leader of the household and he has been sick for three months now cause of Sindhura. Sindoora does her best to stop Sagar's operation but failed to, so she hired Singaporian gangsters to kidnap him. But as she failed again on the kidnapping, Sindoora reaches Singapore to stop the operation but Sagar was already cured. To get rid of Vidya (who went to a nearby mandir for a while) she placed drugs in her purse and went with Sagar to India (who remembered Sindoora). When Sindoora returns she tells that Vidya went off somewhere with the 25 lakhs and she had to pay it all for the operation. Sindoora is an extremely cunning person whose main aim is to get Vidya out of the house and to do all she can to prevent anyone finding out her truth (it is believed that Sindoora was the mastermind of Sagar's accident).Now that Sagar is out of the mental he wants chairman on the bussieness so Sindoora makes sure he does not. Again Sindoora tries to make Sagar get into an accident which makes Sagar go to the hospital. Vidya was given an opportunity to turn it Sindhura the police however she does not cause Sagars Aunt starts talking to Vidya. Sindhura is now making a fake attempt at suicide and is framing Vidya in her fake suicide note. As Sagar gets well and returns home from his accident he sees Sindoora at the hospital. He takes her home and shocks everyone. He tells Vidya to apologize to her and claims that she is his god. Sindoora frames Aniket of trying to murder Sagar and Chandramukhi.
[edit] Shalu
Shalu is Vidya's cousin who has also come to stay in the household. Shalu is seen as being very vain and naive. She is usually the subject of her mother's plans to remain in the house. She is now married to Chinu, and is devoted to him. Whatever Chinu does, Shalu wants to be a part of the action. Further more along with her mother shalu often provides comic relief. The role is played by SNEHAL SAHAY
[edit] Mahua
Mahua is Sindoora's sister. Her husband Karthik has fallen in love with Surili and she soon found out in a video recorded by Harsh in a party. She was soon to be married again but the groom spilled out that he was just marrying her for the money and it was a ploy by Harsh. Mahua secretly has feelings for the fake Harsh who is a security guard, but she doesn't want to get in between Chandra and Harsh's relationship cause she did not know he was actually not Harsh.

Chandra is the youngest sister of the three and is married to Harsh. But unknown to her, Harsh had fallen in love with Vidya before her marriage to Sagar and is stealing money from Chandra. Chandra makes Vidya's life miserable and likes to torment her. Recently Chandra was very upset that Sagar told Harsh to leave the house. Now that harsh has come back with a new face, she thinks that it really is Harsh. Chandra thinks that Harsh does not love her. When she finds out that this new Harsh is in turn Rajiv and is in love with Mahua she overreacts. She really thought he was the old Harsh and wanted to bridge back their relationship. Harsh is taken to jail temporarily only to be released in a promised 2 weeks. Chandra begins plotting in earnest thinking that if she can't have Harsh than Mahua cannot. In secret, Sindura used this as an opportunity to coach Chandra against Vidya.
[edit] Harsh
Harsh is the husband of Chandra and is an ex-convict. He used to be in love with Vidya. Now he's trying to get everybody kicked out of the house, and have it all for himself, (and probably Chandra). Yet, since Sindhura has kicked him out of the house as a cover up for her own actions to ruin her brother Sagar, Harsh has come to find out the truth about Sindhura. He returns to the home to warn Vidya of what is going on, but in disbelief, Vidya ignores Harsh and Sindhura appears and threatens to call the police if Harsh does not get the hell off of the property. Harsh finally gets an opportunity to tell Vidya it was someone else and Vidya finds out it is actually not him, it's Sindhura. Harsh finally enters the house after a while and has a new face! He has the same actions and facial appearances as Harsh, but Vidya and Sagar are suspicious. It turns out he is not Harsh. He was a Sercurity Guard that Harsh framed. However Harsh is still alive.
[edit] Chinu
Chinmay Singh, nicknamed Chinu, is a cousin of Sagar and is married to Shalu by plot. He, along with Bharat, help Vidya out immensely, particularly when it comes to winning back Sagar's heart.he always favour's dulhan vidya he always stands by her side.
[edit] Surili
Surili used to date Sagar before his tragic accident. She was living in the household by pretending to be the mother of Sameer, a child she supposedly had with Sagar. She joined hands with Sindoora to make Vidya's life more miserable. Due to the work of Tusshar (Sagar's old college friend) Surili was thrown out of the house and Sameer was proven not to be Sagar's son.
[edit] Tusshar
Tusshar is Sagar's old college friend who knew Sagar since before his accident. Tusshar along with Bharat, Vidya, and Chinu helped throw Surili out of the house and prove that Sameer is not Sagar's son. He is considered as an important part of the family. Also Tusshar was going to marry Vidya but in the end Tusshar didn't. He left Vidya so she can be with Sagar.
[edit] DJ
DJ is the man that helped Sagar and Vidya reach Singapore. While at Singapore, Sagar and Vidya said they didn't trade their money. DJ offers to do it for them and runs off with the money. Then, when Vidya is in jail, he rescues her and tries to get her back to Singapore. But at the end the police find him and drag him off and Vidya returns to India. After sometime DJ escapes from jail and calls Vidya to meet him. Once they meet DJ tells Vidya that while he was in jail he overheard some people talking. They were the people who kidnapped Sagar in Singapore. DJ listened to their conversation and comprehended that someone told them to kidnap Sagar and the last three digits of the orders phone number.
