Ballaghaderreen (Irish: Bealach an Doirín) is a town in County Roscommon, Republic of Ireland. It is located on the N5 road in the North-West of Co. Roscommon. The Irish meaning of the town name is 'The way (Bealach) of the little oak (Doirín)'.
The town of Ballaghaderreen was located in County Mayo until 1899, when it was transferred to Roscommon by the Local Government (Ireland) Act 1898. Gaelic games supporters are split between those who support Mayo and the local Gaelic Athletic Association team which competes in the Mayo county championship and those who support the Roscommon county team.[1]
In 1860 Ballaghaderreen Cathedral was dedicated as the cathedral for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Achonry.

Ballaghaderreen railway station opened on 2 November 1874, but finally closed on 4 February 1963.[3]
