Baladiyah

Baladiyah (Arabic: بلدية) is an Arabic country subdivision term that can be translated as municipality. The plural is baladiyat (Arabic: بلديات).

The current municipalities of Libya are called shabiyat, but the former ones were called baladiyat, sometimes translated as governorates.
