[edit] Synopsis
Baadshah (Shah Rukh Khan) is a small time private detective hoping to make it big one day.He has a gang of guys who help him on his missions.
Thapar (Amrish Puri) is a big bussiness tycoon whose bio-chemical plant is not being approved by the chief minister of Goa, Mrs. Gayatri Bachaan (Rakhi Gulzar). He decides to kill her.
Meanwhile a man called Jhunjhunwala and another man go to Badshah with a strange case. Jhunjhunwala claims that he is dying with cancer and wants to see his daughter married to the man before he dies. She however is refusing and hence he wants Badshah's help. Badshah takes the case and solves the case in a comic style.
Badshah acts as a blind man and gains the sympathy of Seema (Twinkle Khanna), who according to Jhunjhunwala is his daughter. Then he undergoes a phony eye operation setup by himself and his gang of guys in a hilarious backdrop. After the operation he makes Seema fall in love with him and then ditches her breaking her heart. This causes Sonia to seek solace in the man whom Jhunjunwala wants her to marry. Actually that man is Jhunjunwala's son and Sonia is a CID agent's sister. Jhunjunwala wants them to marry so that Seema's brother can help them in their frauds and shady deals. They however are caught by Seema's brother.
Meanwhile Thapar hires a vamp, Rani, and her boyfriend Moti to first murder Sonia's brother and then Gayatri devi. Sonia's brother actually had foiled a previous attempt at Gayatri Devi's life.
The CID get to know of the plan to assassinate Gayatri Devi in Goa on the eve of a conference and assign the case to Seema's brother and code name him 'Baadshah'.
On the other hand, a rich bussinessman's daughter is kidnapped by his own men and taken to Goa. They want his diamonds. The bussinessman hires Baadshah to bring his daughter back safely.Baadshah and his gang reach the airport to depart for Goa. The CID Baadshah is also leaving for Goa by the same flight. However he is murdered by Moti at the Airport. The actual Baadshah, by a lucky misunderstanding, gets the ticket of Sonia's brother.
Rani seeing this thinks that they have killed the wrong Baadshah. She plams to kill him aboard the aircraft itself but misses.
Then at the Goa airport, Baadshah meets the CID team which is there to welcome Sonia's brother. They mistake him for the CID agent and take him to their headquarters. There he is provided some great gadgets and a James Bond style car etc. There he also comes to know the truth about Seema. Then he goes on to rescue the bussiness man's daughter and clear the misunderstanding with Seema.
After that, Thapar's men kidnap the bussinessman's daughter and Baadshah's gang. They tell Baadshah that now he must kill Gayatri otherwise his friends and the girl will be killed. Baadshah tries to inform Gayatri Bachaan's husband but finds out he is the actual mastermind behind the plot to kill her. Then with Seema's help he goes on to free his friends. However the little girl has a bomb jacket attached to her by Thapar and he can't remove it without the bomb exploding. So he takes her to the conference itself where Thapar is present and hence cannot detonate the bomb.
