Ayanvaram or Ayanpuram is one of the many suburban localities of Chennai and is located in West Chennai about 8 kilometres from the city center. The Konnur High Road, one of the important connecting roads in Chennai runs through Ayanavaram. Ayanavaram is one of the peripheral commercial areas of Chennai.

Ayanavaram houses Thiruvateeswarar Hospital, the then Tamil Nadu State Corporation. Besides, in the vicinity are Yasodha Hospital, Leprosy Centre, I.C.F.Hospital, and Technical Training Centre.

Kalikamba Kameswarar Temple and Lutheran Church are a few other attractions.

The region from east to west is frequently provided with banks, small market places and wedding halls. The Aspiran Garden Colony, Mettu Street, ayanavaram market and Railway Quarters are the popular residential places in Ayanavaram. The colony is located close to the northern limits of the city outskirts.
