Location of Athens in Los Angeles County, California.
Athens is an unincorporated district in the South Los Angeles region of Los Angeles County, California, near the intersection of the Century and the Harbor freeways. To the south is the city of Gardena, to the west is Hawthorne, and the to the east are the unincorporated community of Willowbrook, California and the Los Angeles community of Watts.
Athens County Park, Helen Keller County Park, and the Chester L. Washington County Golf Course are all in Athens. Los Angeles Southwest College, a two-year community college, is also in the Athens area.
