Adrian Mark Sanders (born 25 April 1959, Paignton) is a politician in the United Kingdom. He is Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Torbay in Devon

He is the son of John Sanders, an insurance official, and his wife Helen, a nurse. He went to primary schools in Paignton and Torquay then went to Torquay Boys' Grammar School. He worked in the insurance industry for seven years, oining th Liberal Party in 1979. Sanders was a Torbay Borough councillor 1984-6. From 1986-9, he lived in Hebden Bridge, working for the Association of Liberal Democrat Councillors. He moved back to Paignton in 1990. From 1993-7, he worked for the Southern Association of Voluntary Action Groups for Europe.[citation needed]

He first stood for Torbay in 1992. He stood in the 1994 European Parliament elections, narrowly losing because one of the candidates, Richard Huggett, stood as a Literal Democrat and attracted 10,000 votes through unconsciously mistaking that party for his. He was first elected in 1997, winning with a majority of 12, beating Conservative Rupert Allason.

He married Alison Nortcliffe in January 1992 in Torbay. He has had diabetes since 1991.
