The 80th Academy Awards ceremony, honoring outstanding achievements in film for 2007, is scheduled for Sunday, February 24 2008, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California. This will be the seventh time that the Kodak Theatre will host the ceremonies since its construction. It will also be the 33rd time that the ceremony will be televised in the United States by ABC, which is under contract through 2014.^[2] Gil Cates will be the producer, making it his 14th show, a record.^[3] It is to be hosted by Jon Stewart. It will be the second time Stewart has hosted the awards, having previously hosted the 78th Academy Awards.^[4]

Due to the writers' strike, it is possible that no clips from films or past award telecasts will be used; the Writers Guild of America West denied the waiver on December 18, 2007. They may still show clips, however, since the waiver only affects the conditions in which they may show clips. ^[5]
