2008 World Superbike season

The 2008 World Superbike racing season will be the 21st season of the Superbike World Championship. Corona Extra the championship's title sponsor has has announced that it will not renew its contracts for 2008 ending a ten year collaboration.[1] HANNspree will become the title sponsor of the championship from 2008 to 2010. The championship will now officially be known as “HANNspree SBK Superbike World Championship”.[2]

The Superbike World Championship will return to the United States on June 1 2008 for the 2008 United States round of the Superbike World Championship. The round will take place at the Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City, Utah[4]. This will the first time SBK will race in the USA since the 2004 round at Laguna Seca

Superbike World Championship will share the weekend with the AMA Superbike Championship and its support classes. However to avoid direct comparisons between World Superbike and AMA Superbike, and because of sponsorship issues the 2 championships will race on different configurations of the circuit. World Superbikes will use the 3.048-mile Outer Track, while AMA Superbike and its support classes will use the 4.5-mile Main Track.[5]
