- 12 March - Docklands railway station is opened in its temporary location, the first new station in Dublin's city centre since Tara Street Station in 1891.
- 17 March - Hundreds of thousands celebrate Saint Patrick's Day throughout the country - 650,000 alone line the streets in Dublin.
