- Varna necropolis, in Bulgaria.
- Geographer and an aerial photographer studying the Campeche region of the Yucatan peninsula proves that the Maya practiced intensive agriculture in raised, narrow, rectangular plots that they built above the low-laying, seasonally flooded land bordering rivers.
