[edit] Events
[edit] Batasang Pambansa bombing
At exactly 8:15 PM (Local Time), an explosion happened on the South Wing of the Batasang Pambansa Complex which was said to be caused by a car bomb implanted in the car of Rep. Wahab M. Akbar (Lakas-CMD, Lone District Basilan) according to police reports. Three have died in the explosion namely Marcial Tando (Driver of Gabriela Rep. Luzviminda C. Ilagan) who died on the spot, Rep. Akbar who died at the Far Eastern University Hospital and Maan Gale Bustalino died at the Malvar Medical Center while eleven were injured two of them Rep. Pryde Henry A. Teves (Lakas-CMD, 3rd District Negros Oriental) and Rep. Luzminda C. Ilagan (Gabriela Party-List)[1].
[edit] Arroyo impeachment
On November 4, the House Committee on Justice dominated by pro-Arroyo lawmakers declared as "sufficient in form" the three-page impeachment complaint against President Arroyo filed by lawyer Robert Pulido.[2] On November 6, the committee then deliberated if the complaint (due to the National Broadband Network controversy) is "sufficient in substance." If the complaint was declared "sufficient in form," it would be considered as an impeachment proceeding; only one impeachment proceeding is allowed by the constitution, if the committee declares the complaint "insufficient in substance," it would give Arroyo an immunity from impeachment for a year. [3] The committee ultimately voted to trash the complaint, with minority members boycotting the hearing.[4]
[edit] Bribery scandal investigation
Also occurring on November 13 was the Senate's hearing on the bribery scandal that occurred in the presidential palace.[5]
