  • Treaty of Rome, 1924 signed on January 27, 1924 between the countries of Italy and the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (the later Yugoslavia) revoked the provisions of the November 12, 1920 Treaty of Rapallo relating to Fiume, now Rijeka, Croatia, which had created the independent Free State (Stato libero) of Fiume, now assigning it to Italian administration, assigning its suburb Sušak to Yugoslavia, and assigning joint administration of the seaport. The formal annexation of Fiume to Italy occurred on March 16, 1924.
