Ramarajan is a Tamil film actor who specialised in making films on village-based subjects. His films include Karagaattakkaaran (1989), Raasave Unnai Nambi (1988), Enga Ooru Paattukkaaran (1987) and Namma Oorkkaaran(2007).

He is from a small town Melur near Madurai, he grew up from a Cinema entrance ticket validater cum Plantain mandi to Cine producer. He enacted a simple village man in his movies and was ridiculed by the then Tamil media. His cine team, having Ilayaraaja, Raajkiran, Koundamani, senthil etc always gave lot of super hits. Karakaatakaaran ran for more than a year in Madurai theater. He At the peak of his career he decided to produce films, but was unsuccessful. Then he became an MP (AIADMK) of Lok Sabha in 1998. He was elected from Tiruchendur (a traditional stronghold for ex-minister Danushkoodi Adithan). Ramarajan defeated him and entered into the Lok Sabha.

Ramarajan married actress Nalini, but they subsequently got divorced. A few years back it was believed that he was pushed to the edge of poverty because of various personal reasons. ramarajan is good actor
