Janet Maslin (b. 1948) currently reviews books in The New York Times. Previously, she was a longtime film critic (1977-1999) for the Times.[1] She began her career as a rock music critic for The Boston Phoenix and Rolling Stone.[1]

Maslin graduated from the University of Rochester in 1970, with a B.A. degree and a major in mathematics.[citations needed]
