Dallam School of Achievement came into being in 1984. It was formed by the joining together of Heversham Grammar School, and Milnthorpe Secondary School.
Heversham School was founded in 1613 by Edward Wilson, Knight, of Heversham Hall, and occupied Old School, behind the church on Heversham Head. The present ivy-clad Boarding House, and Big School (formerly the school hall) date from the 1890's.
After using many different buildings around the village, Milnthorpe Secondary School moved to the new site in 1968, complete with its Community Centre.
